Mango Fashion Group

Mango, the global fashion company founded in 1984 in Barcelona by Isak Andic, has presence in 110 countries and more than 2400 shops plus a huge digital ecosystem. With three different corporate websites, their brand communication was getting diluted and the maintenance of each was extremely time extensive.

They partnered with Farco to redesign the website, combining the three existing experiences into one clear channel that represents the brand. Our solution pairs narrative strategy and UX patterns to facilitate navigation and content consumption with beautiful UI and interactions to engage readers throughout the experience. The modular design solution and custom CMS creates an experience that the internal communication team can easily maintain and evolve.

Combining three sites into one modular design system that makes it easy to maintain and evolve

The main challenge of the project was combining three sites (enterprise, press and sustainability) into one clear brand channel. Our solution is achieved though thoughtful information architecture, intuitive navigation, and clear UI strategy that differentiates between content types. The modular design solution and custom CMS creates an experience that the internal communication team can easily maintain and evolve.

In the process of creating a system of patterns, we designed and built more than 20 modules that provide the necessary flexibility within a controlled and scalable layout. These patterns guarantee consistency and quality across the entire website, have evolved the Mango Design System, and can be used in future Mango projects.

The beauty and refinement expected by a global fashion brand

Balance was extremely important in this experience. We needed to be formal, but a fashion brand also needs to evoke sophistication. Users need to find information fast and consume it easily, but brand impact was also important. So for us, every single UI and interaction decision was driven by this balance: a smart combination of legibility and beauty.

We used motion and interaction design as powerful tools to evoke sophistication and create a refined brand impact. And when needed, we used them to create a more immersive experience with rich storytelling, encouraging users to take the time and navigate through the experience.
